The promulgation of the Carbon Tax Act on the 1st of June 2019 was a huge step as it represents the South African Government’s commitment to participate in efforts to reduce GHG emissions. The requirements, as set out by the act will make a sizable impact on the local economy.
The South African economy is heavily dependent on fossil fuels for electricity, transportation and industry. This is exacerbated by numerous socio-economic challenges the country will be facing. Hence the implications on the final consumer is of grave concern.
Join SANEA to deliberate the key issues and integrated approaches impacting the implementation of the Act.
