Hilary Joffe is currently a Senior Advisor with the Brunswick Group, a leading corporate advisory firm. Hilary is the former Editor-at-Large of Business Day, the South African national newspaper, which she first joined in 1995 as a Columnist and Associate Editor. From 2000 to 2001, Hilary was a Consultant for Genesis Analytics, returning to Business Day as Senior Associate Editor and Chief Leader Writer. In 2010, Hilary took on the role of General Manager and National Spokesperson for Eskom, where she worked for three years, leading a turnaround of the South African power utility’s communications strategy. Prior to this, she worked as a lecturer at the University of Cape Town and as Senior Economist at Standard Bank, and wrote for Finance Week, Weekly Mail and the Financial Mail.
Hilary’s deep knowledge of business, finance and policy-making and an international reputation as one of South Africa’s most distinguished journalists, will make a valuable contribution to SANEA.
Hilary’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Industrial Psychology from WITS. She also holds a Master of Philosophy in Sociology degree from Oxford University.
